Race Preview: 2017 Run, Love, Run 30K & 15K

After taking a year off, Ardor Adventures brings back the Run, Love, Run 15K and 30K on Valentine’s weekend. Please note, however, that the 15K is actually 10.4 miles.  Just sayin’. Take a weekend away from it all and head over to Newport, with or without romance in mind, and enjoy a scenic, fun race and Rouge beer.

If you happen to take your sweetheart along with you, or perhaps your best running buddy or a general partner-in-crime, check out the sweetheart challenge.  Team up and vie for prizes for the top 3 in the sweetheart competition.  You don’t have to run the same distance.  Both may do the 30K or 15K or one in each distance as the finishing percentage of the two will be added together and the couple with the highest percentage wins.  Prizes for this competition is in addition to the male/female individual races and does not affect an individual’s time, placing, or award in the overall race.

Participants will receive a finisher’s medal, delicious food and Rouge beer at the finish line along with the challenging and scenic course.   The course descriptions from the website state for the 15K+  “[There are] Lots of fun surprises on this course. First surprise – it’s actually 10.4 miles long. But they’re 10.4 super fun miles. First 2 miles are flat, fast pavement perfect for a nice warm up. After the 2 mile marker, you’ll reach the private Wilder Trails where you’ll find a mixture of single track trails and gravel roads. For our mud lovers, you’ll have that and it may include some puddle hopping depending on the weather. Lastly, since it’s on St Valentine’s weekend, we’re throwing in the Heartbreaker Hill.  You’re welcome!”  While the 30K description is much shorter, the course is not.  “The 30k follows the same course as the 15k and splits at approx 6.4 mile marker.”  To check out the map and get a little visual of the tour you’ll be taking of Yaquina Bay, check out the course tab here.  Aid stations will have water and Gatorade and be available at mile 2.3 and 5.5 for both distances.  After courses change routes, the 15K will aid again at mile 7.3.  The 30K will have further aid stations at miles 8.5, 12.5, and 14.5.

About Robin York (146 Articles)
Robin grew up as a couch potato and did everything she could to get out of exercise, until one day a good friend would not stop talking about this fun 5k race she was doing. Finally Robin got off the couch and trained for this "fun" race using C25K (couch to 5k program). After crossing that first finish line, she kept going and became a "runner". After losing 80 lbs, gaining health, a love of being active and setting a healthy example for her husband and kids, she thinks she'll stick with this whole "running thing".
