Cold weather running got your body down? Check out Embrocation and Skin Wash from Chamois Butt’r

There is no doubt that the past few weeks of Oregon weather has been a little crazy. I, for one, can vouch for the beating that my skin has taken as a result of the sub-freezing temperatures and arctic winds. We have reviewed Chamois Butt’r in the past, but had been holding on to some of their products until the time called for it. That time is now.

Their Embrocation is designed to warm up muscles and seal exposed skin from cold and wet conditions. The cream is easy to go on and the consistency is much more palatable than I anticipated. While it did have a smell, I didn’t feel as if it was unbearable.

I felt this did help get me out the door with warmed up muscles and I felt a little bit more protected from the elements, both cold and rain (it stayed on quite well in wet conditions). However, if you are sensitive to heat, you may want to go light AND make sure you have the “warm” version and not the “hot” version. It may take some getting used to, as the heat can really be a lot if you are not careful.

Their Skin Wash can help clean off the Embrocation, or any other grime (sweat, dirt and road grime, and even massage oils). I used this directly after a cold run, when there was no shower readily available and I didn’t want to remain caked in Embrocation. It did a really solid job in lieu of a good soap and water cleaning. It has a fresh smell to it, and seemed to do the trick.
