It’s the most wonderful time of the year … to be training for a marathon? Well, some may argue otherwise, but with Coach Jim’s FREE Saturday long runs, at least you can have company! This Saturday, some very fun folks will be running from Pizza Roma at 4715 SE Woodstock Blvd in Portland.
This Saturday, Christmas Eve, is no exception. This weekend’s run is divided into two loops; that way, those training for a half marathon can get in their required miles without overextending. Coach Jim’s group is training for spring marathons, including the Bend Marathon; and spring half marathons!
Their first loop will be a six-mile out-and-back from Pizza Roma to Mt. Tabor (the bottom of it) starting at 8a. After that, the group will then take off for an 8.5-mile loop that treks through Reed College, Sellwood, Eastmoreland, and travels on the Springwater Corridor as well. If you plan to join in for just the second loop, meet them at Pizza Roma at about the time that your pace group should be finishing the first loop … or ten minutes early just to be safe.
You can park on the street near Pizza Roma with no trouble; and there are restrooms you can use there as well, thanks to the wonderful owner, who happen to be a runner.
