It’s October, which means Halloween is less than a month away, and that means the Halloweenathon is just around the corner. If you like running in a costume, or running among costumed runners, this is a race for you, as it’s always got a high contingent of people who dress up. (Heck, I’m not a costume runner, but even I wore a Darth Vader mask for last year’s Halloweenathon.)
First staged in 2012, the Halloweenathon has always been held at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club on one of the two golf courses. Last year, Uberthons added an obstacle course variant – participants could choose to run the course as a traditional 5K, or a 5K with eight fun stations. (For my recap of last year’s event, including the obstacles, click here.)
In addition to the usual Uberthons instant chip-timed results, there’s a neat finisher’s medal, age group winner pins, and award medals for overall male and female 1st/2d/3d, age 45+ male and female 1st/2d/3d, and age 65+ male and female 1st place finishers; plus a nacho bar for all participants!
This year’s race will be on the south course, which is relatively flat but a bit sinuous. The course is 5K, but there will be 10K and 15K options available as well, consisting of an extra one or two laps respectively.
