Having been a volunteer firefighter in my younger years (ah youth, how you are missed), this event is near and dear to my heart. Our firefighters, whether protecting us from wildland or any other type of fire, saving us from accidents, and the bazillion other good deeds they do, need our support. The Iron 44 and Wildland Firefighters Association Tribute Run will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Medford, Oregon. Participants may choose to participate in either a 10k run or 5k run/walk, with both kicking-off at 8 a.m. There will also be a kids fun run.
Register through July 22 for $20. The kids fun run is $15. After July 22, add $10 to all entry fees. An event shirt may be purchased for $20. This event is a benefit for the Wildland Firefighters Foundation. As of this writing, the course map and event awards are currently being solidified, with the race slated to begin at 2929 S. Pacific Hwy, Medford, Oregon.
“Wildland Firefighter Foundation’s main focus is to help families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and to assist injured firefighters and their families. We honor and acknowledge past, present, and future members of the wildland firefighting community, and partner with private and interagency organizations to bring recognition to wildland firefighters.”
