The Heroes are Coming!
I don’t know about you, but I am a big Olympics fan. I attended the 2002 Winter Games when they came to Salt Lake City (my US hometown), and got to attend some great events – Biathlon, Cross Country Skiing, and Curling. I also attended some medals ceremonies and took in all the magic that those 3 weeks brought. I still get goosebumps when I think about it. I still regret not making the trek up to Vancouver for the 2010 games, but I was raising a young family and priorities got in the way. While my Canadian birthplace and upbringing has put me more in tune with the Winter Olympics, I definitely lose myself in all that the Summer Games has to offer.
The 2016 Rio games are just around the corner and us Oregonians are lucky enough to be so close to the US Olympic Trials for Track & Field as they hit Eugene from July 1-10. And Run Oregon is lucky enough to have media credentials to provide some coverage throughout the week! Check out the full calendar of events, as well as some of the featured events each day. The trials actually start on June 30 in Salem for the racewalking qualifier.
Tickets can be purchased here. Full session tickets run between $295-$585, while single day tickets will be $43-$88.
There is a lot of great information for spectators here – from a back pocket guide to the fan festival. Also, follow TrackTown USA on Facebook to stay up to date on the latest info and use #TrackTownUSA on all your social media platforms!
