Small Race Previews: Statewide Races on June 21-31, 2016


There are a bunch of races in the summer. We try to get to as many as we can, but sometimes there just isn’t enough time in the week to get them all scheduled! If you are looking for some local races to round out your calendar, read below!

Longest Day Run 5k (Medford)

FOTAS – Friends of The Animal Shelter receives a percentage of the profits. Out and back on the Bear Creek Greenway.  Starting and finishing near the pavilion.

When: June 21, 2016 at 730pm

Running Wild 5k (Corvallis)

GET WILD! Employees of the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife have teamed up with Pheasants Forever to present the “Running Wild” 5K Run and Outdoor Skills Challenge. This family-friendly event includes a 5K run/walk through EE Wilson Wildlife Area where you can test your skills at trap shooting, spin casting, archery and animal track identification. Each activity will be facilitated by certified hunter/angler education instructors. There will also be music and a wildlife information station at the finish line along with a raptor demonstration by Close Encounters, the educational outreach initiative of American Wildlife Foundation, a licensed raptor recovery program based in Molalla. The event begins at 9:00 am and parking is free all day. Proceeds will go towards the 2016 Governor’s Toy Drive Campaign.

Amy Hafer Race for Awareness (Enterprise)

Grab your friends and sign up for the Amy Hafer Race for Awareness! The Amy Hafer Race for Awareness was launched in 2008 to honor Amy Hafer, a 1989 graduate of Wallowa High School, who lost her 18 month battle with breast cancer on November 25, 2007. The Race promotes health and early detection through regular check ups and important screenings such as mammography and colonoscopy. With awards, refreshments, and a celebration of health, the Amy Hafer Race for Awareness is a fun event for the whole family!

Finish at the Flag/SamFit Run (Lebanon)

SamFit is proud to present the third annual Finish at the Flag 5k run/walk on Saturday, June 25, beginning at 9 a.m., in Lebanon. Join us for this fun-filled event that takes you on a tour of the medical campus and help support those who have served our country.

Police K9 Pursuit Fun Run & Walk (Roseburg)

Friends of Umpqua Valley Police K9 Programs proudly supports our local Law Enforcement K9 teams and our volunteer Search & Rescue K9 units.

When:  June 25, 2016 at 930am

Tillamook Milk Run (Tillamook)

Held in conjunction with the annual Tillamook June Dairy Parade, the last Saturday of June, the Tillamook County Family YMCA Milk Run celebrates local dairy heritage while encouraging fitness. The course starts at the Y and then winds through dairy country, with runners and walkers getting a close glimpse of local farms and cattle.

Taste of Parkrose 5/10k Run (Parkrose)

The 10K course will run through Maywood Park (a city within the city) and then circle the historic NE Portland neighborhood of Parkrose. The 5K route will circle the Parkrose neighborhood. Field size is limited to 200 participants, so register early before we sell out! There are also plans for a quarter-mile “Little Kids” run.
