Each of the smaller towns in Yamhill County have festivals in the summer, most including some sort of fun run. Sheridan Days hosts the Samurai 5k n Sunday June 19th to benefit the Sheridan Japanese School. Entry is $25 for adults and $20 for those under 18 years of age, and includes a shirt. If you don’t want a shirt, the event is only $10! DOE registration is open after 8:15 for $15 and the race will start at 9am. It is untimed and open to strollers and leashed pets.
Located about 20 minutes southwest of McMinnville on Highway 18, Sheridan is a picturesque little town set against the coast range. I can’t speak for the terrain on the course, but it is a beautiful place to run. The activities associated with the Fun Days will offer some entertainment after the run. If you are looking for a low-key, inexpensive 5K in June, mark the 19th on your calendar and make the trip out.
