35th Annual Blue Lake Triathlon and Duathlon Weekend Festival June 4th and 5th

The 35th Annual Blue Lake Triathlon/Duathlon Weekend Festival kicks off the first weekend in June. Held at Blue Lake Park (21224 NE Blue Lake Road) in Fairview, an Olympic, Sprint, Duathlon, AquaBike and Super Sprint are offered during the weekend festival. Traditionally, the Blue Lake Triathlon is an opportunity to kick off the swim, bike, run season, but it’s also a great opportunity to test out the multi-sport world for the young and old.

Located about 15 miles east of downtown Portland, Blue Lake Park offers a flat and fast course for participants. Saturday events include: The Super Sprint costs $80( 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 2 mile Run) and will begin in waves at 8am. The Duathlon costs $80 (2 mile Run, 10 mile Bike, 2 mile Run) starts at 8am. The Super Sprint AquaBike costs $80 (1/4 mile Swim, 10 mile Bike) and begins in waves at 8am. The Kids’ Triathlon Races cost $30 and are designed for kids 12 and under. Their events begin at 10:30am. If you don’t feel like doing all the sports yourself, grab some friends and make it a relay. Registration will be available at packet pick up and race day, if space is available.

Sunday events include: The Sprint Triathlon costs $105 (1/2 mile Swim, 12 ½ mile Bike, 5K Run) and begins in waves at 8am. The Sprint Duathlon costs $105 (5K Run, 12 ½ mile Bike, 5K Run) and begins at 8am. The Sprint AquaBike costs $105 (1/2 mile Swim, 12 ½ mile Bike) and starts at 8 am. The Olympic Triathlon (1.5K Swim, 40K Bike, 10K Run) Duathlon (5K Run, 40K Bike, 10K Run) and AquaBike (1.5K Swim, 40K Bike) all cost $105 and begin at 8:30am. Add $5 if you opt for late registration. Register at packet pickup on Friday, June 3rd from 11am to 7pm at Athletes Lounge (2671 NW Vaughn St.) or race morning between 6am and 7:30am.

Register soon to make sure you get a commemorative race shirt. All participants will receive a finisher medal and post race refreshments, including Deschutes Brewery Beer. Make sure to pack your helmet, since they are required on the bike portion and $5 cash for parking. Dogs are not allowed in the park.

This event is chip timed and awards will be given for the Top 3 Male and Female finishers. It’s easy to see why the Blue Lake Triathlon and Duathlon is so popular and fills up fast. Olympic Triathlon, Olympic Duathlon and Olympic AquaBike all being at 8:30am.
