First Thursday Urban Adventure Run is This Thursday

Can you believe it is already time again for that Portland summer running tradition, the First Thursday Urban Adventure Run? Hosted by the wonderful folks at Fleet Feet Sports PDX, this is a free event, open to all runners and walkers, with a chance to win sweet prizes.

Here are the details:

When: Thursday, May 5, 2016 (see future dates below)

What time: The run starts at 6p but people start showing up as early as 5:15p

Where: On NW 22nd Ave, between Quimby and Raleigh, near Fleet Feet PDX at 2258 NW Raleigh

Register: Onsite by signing a waiver, or ahead of time online here for a few extra raffle tickets when you check in

Bring: Your ID if you plan on getting a beer; wear bright colored and/or reflective clothing to be more visible to vehicles

Park: On surface streets, and remember meters are checked until 7p now

This is a fun run and walk, which starts when Fleet Feet PDX team members bring out the big maps showing that month’s checkpoints. You get to as many as you want to or can (not always the same thing) and back to the start area by 7p, where you turn in your raffle tickets and then see if you win any awesome prizes! Keep an eye on the weather; as the sun goes down you may want sweats to throw on after the run to stay warm during the raffle.

This is NOT a race, and aside from the event site, no roads are closed, so run on sidewalks and obey all traffic signals. Use good judgment and remember that many drivers only care about getting home and aren’t expecting swarms of runners to surround their vehicle. And take a moment to thank the sponsor stores (usually the checkpoints) for their support!

Future dates are:
Thursday, June 2
Thursday, July 7
Thursday, August 4
Thursday, Sept 1
