Race Preview: 3rd Annual Oregon Senior Games Comes to Bend 6/9 – 6/12/2016

"16 Sports, 20+ Breweries, 1 Cool Mountain Town" Need yet another excuse to travel to the incredible Central Oregon area? Athletes 50+, get this series of events on your radar! June 9 through June 12, the 3rd Annual Oregon Senior Games is coming to Bend, Oregon! Featuring sixteen different sports, the Oregon Senior Games is sure to feature at least one event for everyone. Choose from 5K run/walk, track and field, archery, golf, softball, pickleball, swimming, basketball, bowling, racquetball, table tennis, horseshoes, cycling, shuffleboard, and two exhibition style sports - cowboy action shooting and over the line. Holy smokes! That is an amazing line up! 

Here is a highlight of the 5K event, specifically. The 5k run/walk portion of the Oregon Senior Games is ‘Sweat for Vets’, which takes place on Saturday, June 11, at Summit High School in Bend, Oregon. Participants will start from the track at Summit High School in northwest Bend. This event will be comprised of two separate heats. Runners will start at 7:30 a.m. and race walkers will start at 8:30 a.m.

“All proceeds will be donated to purchase a Disabled American Veterans (DAV) van – which provides free transportation to VA medical facilities for injured and ill veterans – and locally runs from Bend, through Redmond, Madras, and Warm Springs on its way to Portland, and back again.”
