Race Preview: 2016 Bridge to Brews 8K, 10K, & Kid’s Half Miler

Running and beer seem to be a much more common pairing these days, especially in the great city of Portland. After all, Portland is home to more breweries than any other city on earth, so in a way it was kind of inevitable that runners would choose this beverage as their post race treat, right? Okay, so maybe not everyone will reach for a pint, but regardless of which liquid you opt for at the end of a race, you won’t want to miss Bridge to Brews 8k and 10k Sunday, April 10, presented by Terrapin Events. The event also features a Kids Half Miler, so the whole family can join in on the fun.

The Bridge to Brews 8k and 10k has been around for years, but for the third straight year they will be offering a beer tasting festival following the races. Each participant 21+ will receive a commemorative cup and 10 free tasting tickets for the event. As with years past, there will be tons of great local breweries, and (for the non beer drinkers) tons of distilleries and wineries to choose from. If you are planning on joining in the 21+ festivities following the races, you will want to make sure you have ID with you. The event’s site suggests that it is best if you get your ID checked EARLY so you can avoid one more line when you finish. There will be an ID check set up starting in the morning where you can opt to get your ID checked there or at the beer area.

In all, Bridge to Brews will feature:

  • The only race that goes over the Fremont Bridge
  • Commemorative Bridge to Brews t-shirt
  • Commemorative Bridge to Brews cup
  • Ten (10) tasting tickets (beer / cider / wine / spirits)
  • Great post-race food
  • Live and local music
  • Post race party on the waterfront
  • Unique views of city
  • Much more!
