Before I was one of the RD’s for the ORRC Hagg Lake Runs, I ran it twice. One of those times, I was lapped (both races used to be run on the same day) by none other than Krissy Moehl. She actually slowed to ask me how I was doing, forever cementing my opinion of her … extremely sweet.
That was years ago, in 2009 when Moehl went on to win the 50k. Since then, she has been busy … running (and winning) a number of ultras, continuing to put on the Chuckanut 50k (near Bellingham, Wash.); she’s also written a book, “Running Your First Ultra.” And on Wednesday, January 20, she’ll be reading an excerpt and speaking at Powell’s Books. Whether you’re training for your first ultra or your 50th … or just thought, “I could run an ultra” as you’re reading this post, you’ll gain a lot from hearing about her experiences.
When: Wednesday, January 20, 2016
What time: 7p-9p
Where: Powell’s Books at 1005 W. Burnside in Portland
We hope to post a review of this book as soon as possible. It contains training plans for distances between 50k and 100 miles, and training information from her 100+ ultras.
