Powell’s hosts “Running Your First Ultra” with Pacific NW ultrarunner Krissy Moehl

Before I was one of the RD’s for the ORRC Hagg Lake Runs, I ran it twice. One of those times, I was lapped (both races used to be run on the same day) by none other than Krissy Moehl. She actually slowed to ask me how I was doing, forever cementing my opinion of her … extremely sweet.

That was years ago, in 2009 when Moehl went on to win the 50k. Since then, she has been busy … running (and winning) a number of ultras, continuing to put on the Chuckanut 50k (near Bellingham, Wash.); she’s also written a book, “Running Your First Ultra.” And on Wednesday, January 20, she’ll be reading an excerpt and speaking at Powell’s Books. Whether you’re training for your first ultra or your 50th … or just thought, “I could run an ultra” as you’re reading this post, you’ll gain a lot from hearing about her experiences.

Here are the details:

What time: 7p-9p

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
