Besides the run, all participants will receive a finisher mug, coffee, cider, hot cocoa and snacks at the finish line. Mugs are only guaranteed for the first 175 registrants. Scovel Racing will provide free photos, not something you get with most races. All registered walkers/runners will receive a raffle ticket in their race packet and the list of prizes will be posted next week. There will be items to excite the local as well as the tourist. Prizes will be given away at the awards ceremony. Last year, items ranged from cash to an overnight beach getaway.
All of the proceeds go to S.H.E. (Sharing Health and Exercise) Warriors, a running club for 4th and 5th grade girls in North Tillamook County. This event is part of the Run Tillamook Race Series. The start and finish is at the Meeting Hall in Nehalem Bay State Park, so everyone has a place to stay warm before and after the run. Another unique part of this run is the bonfire near the finish for people to hang out and savor our beautiful Oregon coast. Nehalem Bay State Park usually has plenty of camping spots available in February. Grab some girlfriends or the kids and make a weekend of it. Registration will be available race morning beginning at 8:30am. Head down for the day or make it part of a weekend adventure.
