Coach Jim’s free group long run for Saturday, December 5, 2015

Trail run! Leif Erickson! 12 miles!

Now that I have your attention … Coach Jim’s group will be climbing the hills of SW Portland up to Forest Park this Saturday for a 12-mile out-and-back this Saturday. Take a look at the route here; this shows you how to get to the Thurman Gate on Leif, and then you’ll stay on Leif until the mile 4 marker and head back. As always, this is a free group run open to everyone. Bring your own hydration and nutrition.

When: Saturday, December 5, 2015

What time: The run starts at 8a. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early so the run can start on time.

Where: Road Runner Sports at 29 NW 23rd Place in Portland (just off Burnside and NW 23rd)

How far & how fast: 12 miles at paces between about 8:00/mile to 12:30/mile … keeping in mind that you run about 30 seconds per mile slower on trail than you would on road for the same distance.

About Kelly Barten (1152 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
