Race Preview: 2015 Burn It Off for Hunger 5k

Burn it off for Hunger

The 4th Annual Burn It Off for Hunger 5k  is a fun run for the whole family and a great chance to get together for a few miles before the big feast. No fancy medals or shirts means that 100% of the proceeds can go directly to the Oregon Food Bank and Pixie Project. The run/walk is on November 26th at 9:00AM along the waterfront and only costs $10 and one non-perishable food donation.  Human food or animal food, since this year they are accepting dog and cat food donations as well. Checks should be made out to the Oregon Food Bank and they will, obviously, accept larger donations. Participants should meet at the Salmon Street Fountain (1000 SW Naito Parkway) at 8:30AM to register.  The run/walk will start and 9:00AM.

The Oregon Food Bank is a statewide network of agencies that distribute emergency food to hungry families throughout Oregon and Clark County, Washington.  More than 94 cents of every dollar donated to the Oregon Food Bank goes directly to fighting hunger. The Pixie Project is a non-profit animal adoption and rescue located in Portland. Pixie aims to make animal adoptions a positive experience for the whole family. They provide an on-site clinic for low-income and homeless pet owners, giving access to vital veterinary care and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries. Both great causes and all monies go directly to these projects.

Plan ahead and get your turkey day organized so you can join in the fun. Burn off some calories and help others in need with the 4th Annual Burn It Off for Hunger on November 26th. It’s a perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving.  Help feed hungry families and animals in need.  It just takes a small cash donation, some non-perishable food and your running shoes. All ages and abilities are invited, strollers are welcome and leashed dogs are even encouraged to come out too.
