Race Preview: 2015 Tofurky Trot 5k

You can have your pick of Turkey Trots on Thanksgiving, since there’s a plethora of runs based on the traditional bird. The options aren’t so plentiful for those looking to celebrate their gratitude and embrace a plant based diet.  Fortunately, Portland has the solution with the Tofurky Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Come out for a 5k (3.1 mile) run, walk or wog (walk and jog) on Thursday, November 26th at 9am.  Register early to make sure you get a t-shirt and save a little money. Adults cost $30 and kids under 18 are $15, add $5 if you wait until race day to register.  Children under 6 are free.

Stay warm before and after the race at the Oaks Park Dance Pavilion (7805 SE Oaks Park Way) in Portland. Packet pick-up and post-race festivities will take place in the Dance Pavilion. The doors will open at 7:30am and check-in continues until 8:30am. The course is still being finalized, but the area surrounding Oaks Park is beautiful, so the course should be as well. This is not a timed event, although prizes will be awarded to the first male and female finishers as well as the best costume.  All participants will receive vegan snacks and beverages at the finish line.
