Race Preview: 2015 Run2Survive

Costume runs have become more varied and plentiful, but the ones that really grab my interest happen around Halloween. Specifically, those with an undead theme. The relatively new concept of zombies chasing survivors while running a 5K with appropriate garb is hilarious and fun. Energy Events take on this theme is slated to happen on October 31st at Blue Lake Park.

The day looks full of fun, with check in starting at 9:30. There is a zombie meeting at 10:00, where they will discuss the rules of the event. Zombies can choose to either be positioned on the course to ambush survivors, or start five minutes after and run the course. The fun really begins with the survivors starting at 11. The kids races, of which there are 4 waves, start at 11:45. To save money and ensure everyone gets a shirt, registration before the DOE is highly recommended. After the run, head over to the Zombie fest which is the after party, running until 2.

Parking at Blue Lake Park is $5, and not included in the registration fee. Carpooling is highly recommended. There will be free makeup artists (tips accepted) for zombies before the run for those who would like to utilize them. Could be a perfect way to get a head start on the Halloween costume for the day. A portion of the proceeds do go to the Evergreen School District Foundation. It is perfect that the holiday lands on a Saturday this year, The later start, proximity to the highway, and guaranteed fun make this a great way to start the holiday.
