Running and animals. You can't get any closer to heaven for me (except by adding food, and possibly wine, to the list). If you are a fellow animal lover, or just want to get in a great race on a Sunday, check out the 2nd Annual Race for the Rescues, occurring Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Portland International Raceway. Celebrity host for this year's race will be Claire Coffee, star of NBC's "Grimm"!
Talk about choices. Race for the Rescues is offering a smorgasboard of distance choices. Seriously, there is something for everyone - including the dogs! The race will feature a 10k, 5k, 1 mile Dog Walk, 1k Kid's Fun Run, and a Coach Potato Race (which means you can stay at home and still participate!). Check out the full array of course maps here. And, stick around for all the race festivities, as the event kicks off at 7 a.m., and will be full of entertainment until 1 p.m.

The most difficult choice before you is which event distance you will sign up for. And how many of your family and friends, and their loyal canine companions, should come along and participate, as well. For whichever distance your choose, your race entry will include an event shirt for pre-registered participants, live bands, beer garden, pet psychics, food trucks, prizes for the top finishers and top fundraisers, dog and cat adoptions … and more! Race proceeds will benefit local animal welfare organizations such as Project Pooch, Pacific Pug Rescue, Must Love Dogs NW and Lovers Not Fighters Pit Bull Rescue.
Definitely get pre-registered to secure your spot … This is going to be a great event for animal lovers, runners and walkers!
