A scenic a varied coastal course awaits runners and walkers at the Free Flight Run 10k and 5k in Newport, Oregon on Sunday, October 11th. Starting and finishing at the Hatfield Marine Science Center, the race offers a flat, fast, and fun tour on the jetty and along the bay, with a stretch on nature trail. In addition to the 5k and 10k, a Kids-run is available for the younger participants (10 and under).
For the safety of participants “no headphones, baby joggers, skates, bicycles, or pets allowed on the course.” Presumably, no sea lions either! The event supports Lincoln County Youth “250 miles for $50” scholarship program, elementary school track meets, and other local running activities.
The overall and masters male and female winners in both the 10k and 5k will earn awards, and there will be prizes for the top man and woman in 5-year age groups. All Kids-run finishers will receive ribbons.

Registration: $25 for 10k and 5k ($14 for pre-registered Coast Hills Running Club members), $10 for the Kids-run. Day of race registration begins at 8:00a at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.
