Race Preview: SHOC Walk & Run 5K/10K for Ovarian Cancer (Gladstone)

SHOC Foundation

The 11th annual SHOC Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer takes place in Gladstone on Saturday, August 1st. Runners and walkers can choose between the 5k and 10k distances, and there is also a 1 mile untimed family walk. Donations beyond the registration fee are greatly appreciation, and all pledges collected go to the Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

Both the 5k and the 10k follow a beautiful look through the park around Clackamette Lake. The 10k adds a jaunt through the town to bring it to the correct distance. Since there is no way to cut the circle around the lake short, the 5k is actually a little long and comes in at 5.6k. However, there will be a timing mat at the 5k mark to give each participant a correct 5k finish time as well.

After the run, there is a breakfast where survivors of ovarian/gynecological cancers will be honored. There will be music and vendors, you can get a massage and relax listening to the Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers.
