The Eugene Running of the Bulls, by Pink Buffalo Racing, ran for the first year in July, 2013. I was in attendance at the inaugural event, and it was just a blast! Now, going on year number three, the Running of the Bulls 4-miler is quickly becoming a staple event in the Eugene area running community – and beyond.
On Sunday, July 12, 2015, take to the serene multi-use paths of Alton Baker Park in Eugene for a 4-mile run (or walk). When you pick-up your packet prior to the race, you will be given a red sash to wear (you should wear a white top if you can!). At 9 a.m., participants will be off on the fully paved course in an attempt to make it to the finish line prior to the release of the bulls. You see, participants start the 4-mile race first, and then shortly after, the bulls are released on the same course! Now, don’t worry, these aren’t real bulls, but you may have to do a double-take; the bulls are roller derby guys and gals who will be yielding plastic bats to bop you on the booty with. If you do get gored by a bull, don’t worry – just keep going and get to the finish line!
There will be an aid station at about the 2 mile mark, so don’t linger too long or the bulls will catch up to you for sure.
The top three male and female overall finishers, as well as the top three male and female finishers in each age group, will be given awards.

Want to take to the arena and beat those bulls? I don’t blame you, I do! Entry fees are $20 until July 11, 2015. Technical event shirt are $10 and guaranteed through June 26, 2015. Registration is available the day of race for $25. Seniors 60+ and youth 17 and under deduct $5 from registration pricing. Packet pick-up and same-day registration will be available from 7:45 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. on July 12, 2015 at the ‘green pavilions’ in Alton Baker Park.
