Race preview: 2015 Bigfoot Fun Run in Yacolt, WA

Humanoids of various shoe sizes, paces, and hairiness will toe the line in Yacolt, Washington on Saturday, June 27th for the 7th Annual Bigfoot Fun Run. The event consists of a 5k and 10k, and both courses head through town and into the surrounding countryside on quiet rural roads. The 10k has one significant hill, while the 5k has a few minor inclines. Both courses are out-and-back.

Sasquatch himself will be making a rare appearance in running gear to greet participants and pose for photos. A minimalist runner, Bigfoot prefers to go barefoot (partly due to the scarcity of size 48 shoes), so bring your cameras and get some shots of your feet next to his for comparison.

All runners receive a T-shirt (if it’s anything like last year’s it should be a great design!) and a finisher’s medal, and the races will be timed by Huber Timing. You should be able to foot the bill, with the relatively low entry fee of $25 until June 20th ($30 day of race).

The drive from Battle Ground to Yacolt is a pleasant journey through the woods, and if you let your imagination take over, you can envision the possibility of bigfoot lurking in the forest just beyond the road. Allow at least 35 minutes from Battle Ground to Yacolt (more if you spot a wild Sasquatch en route).

In addition to large trophies with a big footprint for the overall male and female champions, expect generous raffle prizes from various local sponsors, and lots of post-race refreshments.
