As a dad of two small girls, I am constantly looking for races that I can do with my kids. I have participated in a handful of events while pushing my kids in the stroller and they generally enjoy their time with me. But it definitely helps when there is something unique about a race, or something that pertains to them. Enter the 2015 Pajama Rama 5k, held in Silverton on Saturday, June 27.
The race encourages runners to participate in their pajamas. This is very fitting as the event starts at 6pm at Silverton High School. The route (I have run these roads before) is a neat one — an out-and-back to the Gallon House Bridge. There will be a “neon station” at the start line where participants can get a neon bracelet and necklace. The event will not be timed, but runners can always choose to time themselves in a unique environment or just take a relaxing stroll.
After the race, there will be post-race snacks available at the finish line, as well as a drawing with lots of great prizes to give away. There will be a pajama competition for the most decked out and awesome PJ’s. Adult runners can head down to the local establishment, Mac’s Place, starting at 8:00pm for fun activities and drink specials available for participants 21 and over. For those under 21 (or taking kids), Silver Creek Lanes is giving all runners a free game of cosmic bowling starting at 8:00pm (the certificate will be good through 8/27/15, if you can’t stick around).
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Silverton Senior Center and Silverton High School.
