The Goonies Never Die: Truffle Shuffle 5k is on Sunday

It’s hard to believe The Goonies turns 30 this year. I had such a crush on Mikey (Sean Astin) and watched the quasi-cult classic more times than I want to admit. Celebrate ‘Goonies Day’ this Sunday, June 7th along the Oregon Coast with a fun run/walk. No Baby Ruth candy bars or Rocky Road ice cream at the finish line, but plenty of familiar sites to take in from the movie and a perfect way to remember this 80’s classic.

The 30th Anniversary Celebration June 7th

The Truffle Shuffle 5k is an out and back along the beach. The course goes past Haystack Rock and turns around at the beach access road used by the Fratelli family in their famous getaway using an ORV, a fun way to reminisce. All ages and fitness levels are invited and tickets cost $20. The run/walk begins at 9AM and it is suggested that participants arrive no later than 8:45AM. It begins near the Tolovana State Park Wayside at the south end of Cannon Beach. There will be plenty of parking and restroom facilities, not the usual port-a-potties.

Don’t expect this to be chip timed and there are a limited number of finisher’s awards, this is a casual run/walk.  A perfect day trip and opportunity to celebrate Goonies Day with other fans, The Truffle Shuffle 5k kicks off the celebration. Plan to head to Astoria after the run to check out the Goonies House and other fun sights from the movie. You won’t see Sean Astin or any of the other cast members, but it will be a unique way to celebrate the 30th anniversary.
