Small Race Preview: 2015 For the Kids 5K

The west side of Newberg is a pretty area to run, if not perfectly flat. On June 6th, the Royal Family Kids Camp is holding a fun, timed race at Newberg Christian Church. The purpose behind this race is to raise money to send foster kids to summer camps that will help them develop. Race time is set for 9 am, which is a nice change for those in Yamhill County that are often forced to set an early alarm for the trip to an out of town venue. Registration is currently open online, and closes on June 5th.

The fun is at Newberg Christian Church (2315 Villa Road), at the far west end of town. Registration opens at 8 am and is an additional $5 over the early registration costs, so the best bet is to sign up online. Adults are $30, youth 13-17 (or 18+ with a student ID) are $15, and those 12 and younger are free.

They advertise a clearly marked and staffed course, as it winds through some absolutely beautiful residential areas and the George Fox Campus. Expect some mild grades but no major climbs. Strollers are welcome, but they request no bikes or pets on the course.
