I’ve run a couple of Energy Events races before (Fort Vancouver 10K and Vancouver Freedom 5K), but I haven’t had a chance to run the Rum Run. Until now. I’m pretty psyched about getting to tackle this one (with the Run Oregon comp) on May 24, because putting on a rollicking party atmosphere is something that Energy Events does really well.
There are 5K and 10K distances available at this race, with distinct courses for each – that is, the 10K is not two loops of the 5K. Both routes start and finish in the Tualatin Commons area, and go partly through Cook Park in Tigard. Note that the 5K is actually 3.39 miles, and the 10K is 6.35 miles. Be prepared to run a bit farther: pace yourself accordingly. There will also be a 1 mile kids’ race afterward.

Pre-race packet pick-up will be at the Road Runner Sports store in Tualatin (Nyberg Street, just off the 5) on May 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or on race day starting at 7 a.m. at Tualatin Commons.
