Benefiting Banks Elementary School technology fund, this affordable 5K or 10K will not break the bank! The Banks Linear Trail Brave Run, now in its 5th year, has raised over $29,000 for much needed technology for this small school over the last 4 years.
The theme for this year’s race is Come Surf the Linear Trail. So, break out your Hawaiian attire for this festive race. In keeping with this theme, the principal and staff at Banks elementary have issued a challenge based on registration numbers. They will wear/do the following on race day based on numbers:
50 Registrants – Hawaiian shirt
100 Registrants – Bermuda shorts
150 Registrants – grass skirt
200 Registrants – flip flops and sunglasses
250 Registrants – snorkel and diving goggles
300 Registrants – leis and dance a hula
Let’s help these students get their principal, teachers, etc. dancing the hula on race day by registering and spreading the word about this fun race. I mean, what kid doesn’t want to see their teacher do something a little goofy and embarrassing as payback for all that homework?
Both the 5K and 10K are out and back courses on flat, paved trail. With great countryside views and no traffic to contend with, this sounds like a great race course! Both courses are open to walkers and runners alike and will be timed by Race Northwest. There is also a free Kid’s Dash, so bring the kids along for this family friendly event.
Awards will be given to male and female 1st place winners in these categories: Youth (12 and under), Teen (13-17), Adult (18+), and Masters (50+). There is also a growing list of raffle prizes for many lucky winners.
