Race Preview: 2015 Light of Hope CASA 5K/10K Superhero Run – Bend, OR

Have you ever wanted to dress up like a Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtle, throw on a fanny pack, don a cape, wear a bright red wig and then run a race? Excellent, your opportunity is here! The Light of Hope 5K/10K is a Superhero Run and the goal is to get everyone dressed as their favorite superhero, all for a very worthy cause. Sounds like fun you say? Everyone has a superhero inside of them somewhere and even if yours is Spongebob Squarepants, you should run this race!

The race benefits the more than 325 foster children throughout the tri county area of Central Oregon through the efforts of CASA (court appointed special advocates). Same as last year, the race will take place down at RiverBend Park near the Old Mill in Bend and will feature bounce houses and climbing walls for the kids and vendor booths full of games and activities for all. The best part is definitely getting to dress up for the run. Ultimately, you want to look like this:

Such a beautiful cast of superheroes. I love the green paint.

My problem is that dressing up as a superhero usually turns into something like this:

oh dear.

Either way, this is a fantastic event for families, especially for the kids, who not only benefit from this amazing organization, but who get to dress up in awesome superhero costumes…

Psst, these shoes make me faster than you.

Make room in your schedule for this one, you won’t be disappointed.
