The 38th annual Run for the Shamrock will take place in Eugene’s Alton Baker Park on Saturday, March 14th. Proceeds from the event benefit the Sheldon High School Track & Field program.
Both distances of the race start and end at Alton Baker Park. The course is a scenic loop along the Willamette River. The 10k course is the same as the 5k course for the first three miles, at which point the 5k runners cross the Delazio Footbridge towards the finish, which 10k runners head further west to cross the Willamette on the Greenway Bikebridge before turning back around.
This run looks like a lot of fun for your Saturday before St Patrick’s day. The relatively small field of runners (last year 50 participants finished the 10k and 200 the 5k) will give it an intimate non-crowded feel, and since awards are given for top finishers in age groups spanning five years, it’s a great chance to place!
