Mark your calendars for the 34th annual Truffle Shuffle taking place on February 8th at Alton Baker Park in Eugene. If you love chocolate, you will be especially excited for the sweet treat each finisher is rewarded with after completing the 4 mile run or 2 mile run/walk. You guessed it! Truffles! And you can enjoy these decadent treats for a good cause as well. The race is benefiting veteran families through St. Vincent de Paul.
Kids can participate too with a free 700 meter run taking place before the other races.

Register before Feb. 7th for the early bird entry fee of $20 without a shirt and an additional $12 for the long sleeve tech shirt. There is a $5 discount for participants 17 years old and under or 60 years and over, however there will be a $5 price increase for those who register at the event.
Awards are available for the top three male and female finishers in the 2 mile and 4 mile run and to the top male and female finisher in each age group. There will be random raffle prizes for all participants as well!
I have not visited Alton Baker Park myself, but hear that the bike paths and trails through there are beautiful. The course will be within the park, utilizing roads and paths within. Participants are advised for the first 1/2 mile leading up to the community gardens to remain on the LEFT side of Day Island Rd at all times (traffic will be using the right side of the road).
The 2 mile course has a short out-and-back section on Day Island Road. There will be cones set up for participants. Stay to the left of cones and turn at the location as directing by a marshal. (According to the website, the turn-around point is located 32 meters east of the bench on Day Island Road.)
The 4 mile course appears to use different paths for the entire course, though a couple of the paths (near the out and back section on the 2 mile course map) are very close together. No matter what, it looks like a scenic and pretty park to run in and enjoy chocolate!
