Every year, football invades our homes thanks to a few high profile games such as the Super Bowl. This year, the big game takes places on February 1st and in order to prepare for the fact that you are most likely going to be wasting away on your couch eating fried jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and nachos grande (maybe that’s just me?), Redmond Oregon Running Klub wants to “get you movin” with a football themed fun run before the game.

The “goal” is to have runners complete either a 4,400 yard route (2.5 miles) or an 8,800 yard route (5 miles) and at the end, dash through a goal post to score. The course is set to start at the Spud Bowl (1400 W Antler Ave) and utilize the Dry Canyon trail south towards American Legion Park and then back. The races will be untimed and are themed simply as a fun run, according to Klub spokesperson Dan Edwards. According to Dan, this is the inaugural running of this event and the hope is to turn this into a benefit race by next year.

Following the race, a local coffee shop has donated coffee, hot chocolate and water.

When: Sunday, February 1st at 10am.

Where: Spud Bowl Field – 1400 W. Antler Ave, Redmond, OR 97756

Cost: Free
