The end of the year music is always hit or miss. It seems like there are a limited number of albums put out each week (aside from Christmas albums) so there is less and less to choose from. Most artists want to be somewhere on the always popular Top-10 lists – and late month releases don’t always find themselves there.
But surprisingly to me, there were some gems in November I didn’t expect. TV on the Radio’s new album is dominating my life right now, so Ihad to put my favorite song on this playlist. Some of my old college (Owen, Circa Survive) favorites put out new albums as well with some decent stuff. August Burns Red put out a shredding metal Christmas album that is suprisingly good – and dang good December running music if you ask me. Accents put out a full length album earlier this year, but they also put out an EP with 5 more solid tracks – one of which is here. A few female fronted bands I had never heard of before (Pvris, iamamiwhoami, and Brooke Fraser) also yieled some of the best tracks of the month). ANd lastly, the 6th installment of Pop Goes Punk (“punk” taken pretty liberally – i wouldnt call any of these bands “punk”). Nonetheless, the leading track off this album is a pretty solid cover of the radio-hit “Ain’t it Fun by Paramore.
There is one month left for tunes this year and then we will see how 2015 stacks up. Can’t wait! Stay tuned for my Christmas playlist coming up next week!
