RiverFest on the Deschutes includes a Half Marathon, 10k and 5k

  mapuin-riverfest-banner A family friendly 5k,10k and Half Marathon are offered with the RiverFest on the Deschutes in Maupin, Oregon. Held on May 24 and May 25th from 10AM-6PM, RiverFest includes live music, food and plenty of family friendly activities.

The 5k and 10k run/walk will start at 9AM on Saturday, May 24th from the Oasis Riverview Campground.  An out and back course along the river, the 5k turns around just below the Boxcar Rapids and the 10k turnaround is just past Wapinita Rapids.  Both will definitely include gorgeous views. Leashed and well-mannered dogs are welcome. Register before May 21st for $22. A shirt is included in the registration fee. Children 12 and under are $5 or $18 with a shirt. They do offer day of registration($25), as well, between 8 and 8:45AM.

The Half Marathon will run on Sunday, May 25th at 9AM.  Beginning at Maupin City Park, the course is an out and back along the river, flat and paved. All finishers will receive a ribbon and shirt. Register before May 21st for $22 or day of registration for $25. Kids under 12 are $10. Day of registration will begin at 8AM and run until 8:45AM.

RiverFest on the Deschutes is so much more than just a couple of running events. They will have a bouncy house, a climbing wall, a wildlife display and casting pond, in addition to the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon. There also will be plenty of food, as well.

Maupin_Riverfest_Photo_GalleryOn Sunday, Maupin Community Church will hold their service at RiverFest from 9-11 and everyone is welcome. Also on Sunday, SOLV will be meeting at 9AM to work on cleaning up the river. All volunteers will receive a barbecue lunch at Imperial River Company Lodge.

It will definietly be worth the drive, and the courses should be beautiful and the finish line festival should be a blast. RiverFest looks like a good time for the whole family, with something for everyone to do. The festival is free and the run is only $25, a great excuse to head to Maupin.
