The 5k starts and finishes near the picnic shelters in Cook Park (17005 SW 92nd Ave) and is entirely run on mostly flat multipurpose trails (5k course map). The Twilight Mile (start time 6:30pm) is an untimed kids event, and it is a quick out-and-back course on multipurpose trails (Twilight Mile course map).
Here are some highlights from Matt’s 2013 experience:
The first half mile consisted of meandering through the park’s streets and parking lots before giving way to small trails under the covered canopy of the park. The trails were in perfect condition and the only things that really needed to be avoided were a few intoxicated gentleman who probably thought they were seeing quadruple the amount of runners until they were escorted out by local police.
Once we passed through the trees, the warm blue sky appeared back overhead as first trail gave way to a rolling trail closely bordering the river. Crossing under the railroad tracks, runners could quench their thirst at the water station before continuing south and over the Ki-A-Kuts Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge into Tualatin Community Park. A quick little jaunt over some grass led us heading north again on a thin dirt trail opposite the paved path we just exited. It spit runners back out onto the pavement near the bridge before passing the water station again and heading north into Durham City Park and completing a separate dirt trail loop.
Race bib pick up will be available Friday June 20 at Dicks in the Washington Square Mall located at 9402 Southwest Washington Square Road Tigard, OR. Race day bib pick up is available for an additional $2.
