Race Preview: Falcon 15k Relay
the cause it supports. Liberty High School has a program called Liberty Fit. Liberty Fit is a unique fitness program aimed at taking students who are not participating in any spring sports off the sidelines. Students train over a fifteen week period to get ready to participate in the Helvetia Half Marathon. Students are coached and mentored by Liberty Staff, community and family members, all who donate their time to prepare the participants to safely run 13.1 miles.
There is no charge to the students who participate. Liberty Fit is supported by grants, donations, sponsorships and of course the Falcon 15k which is a great (and super fun) way you can contribute.
We all know how much running has helped us in our own lives. By signing up for this event you are helping to change these students’ lives and start them in the direction of becoming lifelong runners.
One of the participants from last year had this to say:
Liberty Fit has become a spectacular experience for me. It has taught me to keep running no matter what. It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you run, what matters is you finish. My favorite moment was when me, Mrs. Jenkins, Michelle, and Ricky held hands and stepped on the finish line of the half-marathon!
Pretty wise words from a High School student!
