Race Preview: 2015 Cedar Creek Beach Challenge (Pacific City)

Eclectic-edgeRunning on sand isn’t always easy, but at low tide, when there’s a lot of hard packed open sand, it’s a lot of fun! The Cedar Creek Beach Challenge in Pacific City gives you the chance to run a 5k, 10k, or 1/2 mile kids run at low tide from Cape Kiwanda south towards Bob Straub State Park and back again.

The race begins and ends on the beach by Pelican Brewpub in Pacific City. The course description couldn’t be any easier: You head south to your turnaround, then north back to the finish. The half-mile kids run starts first at 9am, followed by the 5k and 10k runners at 9:15 (or after the last kid is done running). Finishers will also receive a finisher’s medal.

This race is a major fundraiser for the Cedar Creek Childcare Center in Hebo, OR and is volunteer-run and organized.
