The Post-Run, Backyard, Everyday Tee: True Classic

With warmer temperatures rolling in, it’s the perfect time to update those summer wardrobe staples — namely, the classic T-shirt. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or hunting for an easy Father’s Day gift, fresh tees are one of those closet essentials that always seem to earn their keep.

As the weather warms up, I usually find myself transitioning from heavier layers and collared shirts into lightweight T-shirts for everyday wear. While my running wardrobe starts leaning more toward tanks, casual wear tends to simplify in the opposite direction.

We checked out a couple of options from True Classic last year, and honestly, they left a strong impression. The brand doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel (except maybe when it comes to their cool boot partnership) — and that’s part of the appeal. Across the different fits and fabric options, the focus remains on delivering a clean, comfortable, well-made shirt that feels easy to wear. With a name like True Classic, you pretty much know the lane they’re aiming for.

Fit-wise, I’ve found their shirts land pretty close to spot-on. The cut is flattering without drifting too snug or overly boxy, striking a nice middle ground that works for a lot of body types. The Pima Cotton blend crew stands out with a particularly soft, premium feel. It’s the kind of shirt that works equally well tossed on after a long run, worn to a backyard barbecue, or even cleaned up enough for a casual work call.

Right now, their seven-pack bundle includes a couple of newer colors — Grove and Optic White (seen in the pictures above) — and is heavily discounted at the moment, marked down by around $145 (!)

The best T-shirts are the ones you don’t really have to think about: comfortable, versatile, easy to style, and somehow always the first thing you grab out of the drawer.
