KANE has quietly started building an interesting lane for itself in the running world. While the brand’s recovery-focused approach remains the foundation, their recent collaborations have shown they’re also figuring out how to connect those products to different personalities and corners of running culture. After recently teaming up with PYNRS on a more style-driven release, KANE now shifts toward something more rooted in endurance, grit, and mentality with its newest collaboration alongside ultra runner Matt Johnson.
And honestly, Johnson feels like a pretty natural fit for the brand.
The ultra marathoner, Veteran, KANE athlete, and running coach to Jelly Roll has made a habit out of chasing absurd physical challenges. He became the first — and fastest — person to run across Texas, which somehow still sounds made up even after reading it multiple times. Most recently, Johnson completed the Texas IRONMAN in 10 hours and 9 minutes, and KANE is celebrating the accomplishment with the release of its second collaborative Revive recovery shoe with him just ahead of Memorial Day.
At the center of it all is still the Revive, the same recovery shoe we’ve talked about before in our KANE coverage. Lightweight, cushioned, and incredibly easy to wear after runs, workouts, races, or long days on your feet, the Revive continues to do exactly what it was designed to do. There’s no unnecessary reinvention here.
Instead, this collaboration builds its identity through message and purpose. “Built Different” appears on the heel, while “Made for More” is printed inside the shoe — subtle reminders that feel connected to Johnson’s approach to endurance, training, and recovery. The overall feel of the collab is less about making a loud visual statement and more about carrying a mindset forward.
Performance-wise, the Revive still delivers the same recovery-focused setup KANE has become known for. Raised footbed nodes are designed to help stimulate blood flow through key pressure points, while the anatomical shape comfortably supports the heel, arch, and instep. Underfoot, the geometry creates a smooth rolling sensation from heel to toe that feels particularly appreciated after harder efforts when your legs are cooked and your feet are questioning your life choices.
What makes this collab work is that it understands the assignment. The shoe remains a recovery-first product at its core, while Johnson’s influence simply adds another layer of identity and motivation to something runners are already reaching for after tough efforts.
