The Three Capes Relay is a one-day, 26.2-mile adventure that you can tackle solo or with a team of 2 or 5. Starting in Tillamook and winding south along the Oregon Coast before finishing in Pacific City, it’s a fundraiser that directly supports Tillamook High School athletics. It’s also one of those true bucket-list races, in our opinion. Before diving deeper, we wanted to call out a few key details right up front.
The vitals:
When:
- Saturday, February 28, 2026 – beginning as early as 730am.
Start:
The relay kicks off along Cape Meares Lake. Solo walkers or run/walkers can start as early as 7:30 a.m., with an 8:00 a.m. early start and the official send-off at 9:00 a.m. Teams gather at a literal wide spot in the road to cheer on their lead runners, which adds to the small-town charm—and the parking crunch.
If your runner is game, a quick drop-off might save some stress, especially if you’re cutting it close. You can also skip the hassle altogether by hopping on the Race Shuttle from Pacific City.
Finish:
The finish line now lands at Web County Park. Historically, the race wrapped up on the beach at Cape Kiwanda, but anyone who’s been to Pacific City lately knows two things: (1) it’s wildly busy—yes, even in winter—and (2) road closure issues over the past few years have made the updated finish area far more accessible.
After you cross the line, head into town to support the local breweries and restaurants, then cap things off with some epic team selfies featuring Haystack Rock in the background.
I’d also recommend hopping online ahead of time to scope out other local restaurant options. Pelican Brewing is usually the go-to spot—and for good reason—but it almost always comes with a long wait. Having a few backups in mind can save you a lot of time (and hanger).
Lodging:
The Inn at Cape Kiwanda is very nice (there are numerous hotels along the coast in the bigger communities) but check out the lodging race page for other nearby suggestions.
Hope to see you there on February 28th!
