I have surfed on the Oregon coast. Now, I suppose that’s only true if you consider surfing as rolling out in a wetsuit with a board and getting completely crushed and overwhelmed by waves that—by most standards—aren’t even that powerful.
But, outside of my experience, surfing on the coast is a real thing. From my limited (and failed) experience, I can tell you it’s absolutely a workout. My brother-in-law is a pro on the Oregon coast waves, and even he can attest that it’s a solid cross-training activity.
Surfside Supply may be an East Coast brand, but a lot of their gear carries a distinct Pacific Northwest feel. Established in 2013, their goal was to create a “cozy lifestyle brand inspired by carefree days”. For me, in the PNW, those carefree moments are all about finding time between work and running.
Having apparel that is both stylish and comfortable makes all the difference. While these Surfside pieces aren’t running-related, they fit that lifestyle perfectly. Let’s dive into a few standout items.
Sailor Drawstring Terry Short
There’s nothing quite like slipping into something comfortable after a long, hard run. It’s a little reward for your body—something solid and cozy after putting in the work. The Sailor Drawstring Terry Short is just that.
It’s incredibly soft, thanks to an ultra-soft midweight blend of cotton and recycled cotton terry. It has a bit of heft to it but doesn’t feel heavy like some sweat shorts can. With a 10” inseam, it provides good coverage, and if pink isn’t your thing, there are other color options available. This has quickly become a go-to post-run relaxation piece.
Gary Performance Polo
I love a good performance polo. Over the years, my relationship with polos has gone in and out. They were all the rage in high school, but many were uncomfortable, poorly fitted, or just didn’t hold up. I’ve learned that buying a few cheap polos often leads to disappointment—stretched-out fabric, poor fits, and wasted money.
The Gary Performance Polo is different. Made with a 94% Polyester and 6% Spandex blend, it’s stretchy, soft, and well-constructed. It’s perfect for everyday wear, keeping you cool and comfortable while still looking put together. Whether you’re heading out on an island vacation or just enjoying an outdoor summer day, this is a great option. It features a three-button collared front and comes in three fun yet understated designs.
Zhu Chambray Shirt – Blue
Casual dress shirts are a staple in my wardrobe, especially in a laid-back office setting. But finding ones that fit well, pair easily with jeans or khakis, and remain stylish and comfortable can be a challenge.
The Brian Slub Shirt fits the bill. Made from 80% cotton and 20% recycled cotton, it’s soft, comfortable, and versatile. It features one pocket and works equally well in an office setting or for an afternoon out—giving off a very Wonderlove PDX vibe.
Brian Slub Shirt – Seacrest Green
The Zhu Chambray Shirt is another great option for casual wear. It’s lightweight and soft (a common theme with Surfside Supply apparel). Made from 100% cotton chambray gauze, it’s breathable and ideal for warmer days without overheating. The dual pockets add a bit of extra style, making it a solid all-around pick.
Whether you’re looking for something to relax in post-run or a shirt that transitions seamlessly from office to weekend, the Surfside Supply collection is worth checking out.
