Living the HOKA Lifestyle in the Restore Chukka TS

For many years now, doctors have been recommending HOKA shoes to people with foot issues or for those who are on their feet all day. For this reason alone, it stands to reason that a HOKA lifestyle shoe would be a huge hit. Many of us, runners or not, are on our feet a lot, and this season’s Stealth/Tech Restore Chukka is a great solution to that lifestyle.

Looks

The Chukka’s have been inspired by the Year of the Snake, and that’s evident in the snakeskin pattern in the carbon black on black pattern on the shoes. The chunky sole on the Chukka is all signature HOKA, but the heel has a unique look to it with the bootie underneath exposed.

Function

As already mentioned, the Chukka is a lifestyle shoe, which means it’s not meant for running miles. However, this would be a great shoe for all-day walking around in. These shoes are very comfortable for that exact thing, and they still have the cloud-like cushion that HOKA is known for.

They are super easy to slide in and out of without the need for tying/untying the laces. In fact, the elastic bungee laces really don’t serve any function at all other than to tighten the shoe to your foot for a more secure fit.

 Construction

Sustainability is the name of the game with the HOKA Chukka, as 30% of the midsole and 20% of the outsole is made up of natural sugarcane. The inner bootie of the shoe is made of 83% dope-dyed polyester and 100% recycled polyester strobel board.

The inner bootie is stretchy with a scuba-like material feel to it. The swirl-knit upper is very comfy and the midsole and toe cap’s EVA material provides cushioning and support in all the right places.

Fit

HOKA shoes tend to run a bit big on me and they have a wider fit than many others. I received the Chukkas in a size up from my everyday shoe, which is the size I’d wear for a running shoe, but I really should have gotten these in my true-to-size for an everyday lifestyle shoe. I do find the size up to be a bit too big, but adjusting the laces helped quite a bit.

Overall

Looking for a shoe that takes you from morning to night while you work or run your errands? The HOKA Chukka will serve that purpose. They have a very unique look and will go well with leggings, joggers, and casual wear all around. Like your typical HOKA running shoe, the Chukka has the cloud-like cushion that will spoil your feet, but these will take you on many more adventures all about town.
