Weathering the Elements in Style: A Closer Look at the Tracksmith Harbor Collection

Tracksmith’s 2024 Fall Collection has just dropped, and we’re here for it as always! This year’s lineup includes fall staple colors like rich browns, along with a mix of soft greens and blues reminiscent of muted tones that, for many, signal the fading vibrancy of the summer season.

Tracksmith’s Harbor Collection – within their Fall 2024 launch – is designed to help runners transition seamlessly into colder seasons, offering protection from rain, snow, wind, or any combination of the three. Drawing inspiration—and its name—from the Boston Harbor Islands, this line features weather-resistant elements that serve as a barrier between the body and the unpredictable elements encountered on a run.

Having visited Boston in March 2024, I can confidently say I wish I had these pieces back then. The weather was harsh, and these items would have been invaluable. Much like the Boston Harbor Islands act as a buffer between sea and land, the Harbor Collection provides a protective layer between you and the elements, ensuring comfort and functionality in any conditions.

Harbor Shell

The Tracksmith Harbor Shell is a short-sleeve option – which may not be thought of as a winter option – but it makes for an excellent layering piece. I’ve found it particularly useful on those mild yet windy days where my torso needs some extra protection. It works perfectly as an additional layer over a long-sleeve top for warmth, while still providing mobility.

The shell’s construction, made from a two-way stretch nylon blend, is wind-resistant and shields against light rain—though it’s not built for torrential downpours. One of its standout features is the exposed micromesh flap on the back, which allows for breathability, ensuring you won’t overheat during intense runs or in warmer conditions.

This top is truly designed with runners in mind, but I’ve found myself reaching for it in casual settings too, thanks to its sleek design and versatile functionality. Available in two colors—ivory and stonewash (a light blue)—this shell seamlessly blends performance with style. It’s a great option for those days when you need a bit more than just a lightweight jacket but don’t want the bulk of a full long-sleeved option.

Whether you’re running or just out and about, the Harbor Shell is a stylish and functional piece that holds up to its name.

Harbor Jacket

We live in Oregon, where the weather is as diverse as our jacket collections. I often look at my hallway closet and think, “Do I really need all of these?” And yet, each one seems to serve a purpose. Whether it’s a lightweight waterproof layer, a heavy-duty rain shield, or a cozy cold-weather companion, I always find room for one more. Enter the Tracksmith Harbor Jacket—a versatile addition that seems tailor-made for the Pacific Northwest.

The Harbor Jacket strikes a balance between functionality and style. Its construction features PrimaLoft Gold insulation, a lightweight and high-performing material that provides warmth without bulk, making it ideal for brisk runs or casual outings.

The jacket’s 2:09 Mesh-lined back vent is a thoughtful touch, promoting breathability without compromising its weather resistance. Designed to block wind and shed light rain, it’s a midweight piece that transitions seamlessly from running trails to post-run errands. The fit feels spot-on—not too snug, which is often a critique of Tracksmith gear, but comfortably forgiving.

Currently available in navy on the Tracksmith site, we were lucky to try a beautifully muted green version that feels like a love letter to Duck fans. Whether you’re in Eugene or beyond, it’s the kind of jacket that doesn’t just work for cold, rainy runs—it thrives in them. And as any Oregonian knows, there’s no such thing as too many jackets.
