OS1st Socks: A Sock for Every Purpose

If you’re a runner, what you put on your feet really matters. And while the majority of attention falls to shoes, socks matter a lot. I used to wear cheap socks from department stores until I became a distance runner, and once I started wearing quality socks, I noticed a huge difference.

Several years ago, I suffered with Plantar Fasciitis. This is unfortunately a condition many runners will experience at least once in their running history, and it can be so frustrating and painful. I haven’t had a case of this condition (knock on wood,) for many years now, but I still prefer socks that provide compression to my midfoot to help support my feet while I run.

OS1st is a brand I’d never heard of until recently, but now that I’ve discovered them, I’m not going to forget them again. The founder, Dave, had a long history working in socks/hosiery and he developed their first compression solution, The FS6 Performance Foot Sleeve, for his wife who was struggling with Plantar Fasciitis.

The sleeve evolved from there into the first-ever Plantar Fasciitis sock. OS1st patented a way to target specific areas of the feet with different levels of compression, and the rest is history. Currently, they make many different kinds of socks for many different needs.

Looks

The Wicked Comfort Socks come in three lengths: Crew, Quarter Crew, and No Show. There are five colors in the crew length socks, (two of which have stripes,) three colors in the quarter crew, and eight colors in the no show length. I received a pair of white crew, charcoal quarter crew, and black no show socks, all in size medium, so a good mix of everything.

The Plantar Fasciitis Socks come in the same three lengths, but you’ll also have the choice between a standard poly/nylon mix or merino wool material. They mostly come in black and charcoal except for the standard (non-merino wool) no show socks which again come in a variety of colors. I received the crew merino wool and quarter crew merino wool both in size medium in black.

Function

In addition to the Wicked Comfort and Plantar Fasciitis socks, OS1st has many other categories, depending on what your lifestyle calls for. The other sock types are: Nekkid Comfort, Active Comfort, Thin Air, The Pickle Ball Sock, Bunion, Diabetic Friendly, and Wide. There are also several compression options (Plantar Fasciitis, Calf, Knee, and Arm+Elbow categories) as well as a few other gear options. Basically, OS1st wants to make sure all your bases are covered.

As mentioned, I’ve suffered from Plantar Fasciitis in the past, so I’m thrilled to find a sock that addresses that. I love a sock that gives a gentle hug through the forefoot and personally prefer lots of support in my socks.

Construction

The Wicked Comfort line is crafted with something called “Comformance Yarn” which means they are both durable and comfortable at the same time. Additionally, the Dry1st technology means you’ll have moisture-wicking perfection for even the sweatiest of workouts.

The Merino Wool Plantar Fasciitis socks are made with 100% Recycled Merino Wool and Ultra-Soft Nylon. Anything with the word “merino wool” in it immediately sells me, as it’s always proven to serve me well when the weather gets cold. In addition to increased temperature regulation, these socks will provide excellent moisture-wicking. They also have patented Compression Zone technology which is designed to target Plantar Fasciitis in addition to keeping those toes toasty and warm.

All OS1st socks have 360 Blister protection, breathable yarns, and Silver Ion Technology which makes the socks “anti stink and anti-microbial.”

Fit

The Wicked Comfort socks offer maximum cushion and light compression. I really love cushy socks since I’m on my feet the majority of most days.

The Plantar Fasciitis socks have light cushion and firm compression. The longer socks, (the crew length) have a rating of moderate (15-20 mmHg) through the toe and heel and firm (20-30 mmHg) in midfoot and around the ankle. The quarter crew has a mix of compression levels throughout the sock. The compression level is lightest in the toe area, moderate in the heel, and firm through the midfoot and ankle.

Additionally, OS1st socks have a nice wide toe box and anatomically correct “left” and “right” socks for a perfect custom fit. The designs are seamless and this paired with Compression Zone Technology means no pinching or irritation.

It’s time to add some OS1st socks to your shopping cart. Whether you’re looking for compression socks for your next run, help with an ailment like bunions or Plantar Fasciitis, or just something to wear every day for work or play, you’ll be covered here.
