Compression pants have been one of the last running items I’ve embraced. Historically, my lower body tends to stay warm once I get moving, so I’ve relied on various cold-weather running pants for insulation. While they’ve served me well, they sometimes leave me feeling overheated.
Recently, I realized that not all running or compression pants need to solely be for warmth. Duh realization of the century – I know. I’ve always known about the benefits of compression—like increased blood flow—but for some reason, I hadn’t fully felt like it was a ncessity for me. Now, as I approach my 40th year, I’m starting to re-evaluate things I’ve taken for granted, leading to some “aha” moments.
Testing out a pair of compression wear from the small brand Tighties came at the perfect time.
This is a wake-up call if you’re anything like me: compression wear isn’t just for warmth! I’ve been testing the Endurance compression pants from Tighties, and they’re designed for what compression does best—increasing blood flow, reducing fatigue, and speeding up recovery times. There are plenty of articles and studies out there about the benefits of compression, so don’t wait until you’re my age to try them out. And if you’re already my age or older, now’s the perfect time to start!
Looks:
When it comes to looks, theseEndurance pants are all about functionality. The design is simple, with minimal visuals and no flashy colors—just a sleek black colorway with subtle company logos. This makes sense for compression wear, which is meant to layer under shorts or other pants, providing performance benefits rather than making a style statement.
Function:
As expected, the fit is snug by design. These are not meant to be worn on their own but rather layered to maximize their benefits. Engineered for peak performance, the Endurance compression leggings use breathable, sweat-wicking fabric made from Repreve. With their locked-in fit, they allow you to push harder without restriction or chafing. These aren’t your everyday leggings!
Testing:
Over the past month, I’ve worn them regularly across a variety of settings. As the weather has cooled, they’ve become my go-to base layer for medium to long runs. I’ve also integrated them into my cross-training sessions and lower-body workouts in my home gym. While a month might not be enough time to fully measure results, I’ve noticed that my lower body feels more capable of handling a heavier workload.
Typically, after a week of squats, deadlifts, and lunges mixed with 5- to 8-mile runs, I’d be ready for a break by the weekend. However, since incorporating these leggings, my legs feel like they can handle more—whether that’s additional miles or another weight session. Recovery days are still important, but the overall fatigue is less pronounced, and my lower body feels more prepared and manageable rather than completely worn out.
Other Options:
I’ve also been traveling recently and wore these during long flights and drives. As with most compression gear, they help reduce venous pressure and discomfort from restless legs, keeping me feeling more comfortable during travel. Once I reach my destination, I can hit the ground running—literally—with a few miles to shake off the stagnation.
Tighties offers a few other compression options in their lineup. Their Strength version has slight resistance built in, pushing your legs a little more during running or weightlifting, so when you’re not wearing them, you’ve already done some strength work. They’re also soon releasing a Stabilizer pair designed to train and support the body below the hips, helping prevent injuries.
Overall, the Endurance compression leggings from Tighties have been a solid addition to my training routine, offering improved support, reduced fatigue, and enhanced recovery. Whether for running, weightlifting, or travel, these pants deliver on performance without the need for flashy design. If you’re looking to optimize your lower body’s performance and longevity, these are worth considering.
