Chasing Clouds: The Magic of Wy’East Wonder

It’s time for another epic event from Go Beyond Racing! If you haven’t registered yet for the 2024 Wy’east Wonder race on September 7th, you better do it soon! This 50-miler and 50k is arguably Go Beyond’s most scenic race, and if you know anything about their events, you know that they often sell out.

The Wy’east Wonder is a point-to point course and the majority of it takes on two ridges along Mt. Hood called Gunsight Ridge and Surveyor’s Ridge. The 50-Miler will challenge runners with 7,600’ of elevation gain and a whooping 10,600’ of loss. The 50k, also challenging, will have 4,300’ of gain and 7,200’ of loss. Your quads will be burning but the views should be worth the hurt.

The race will start at Bennett Pass Sno Park, but there will be no parking there, so be sure to build shuttle time into your morning. The shuttles will take off from Red Barn Park an hour before the race start times, and you’ll also need to pick up your race bibs before climbing aboard. The 50-Miler will begin at 6:00AM and the 50k starts at 8:00AM.

Unfortunately, spectators will not be allowed at the start line or on the shuttles before the race. Spectators can take the shuttle from Red Barn to the finish line to watch their runners come in as well as ride the shuttles back to Red Barn with finishers, though race participants will have priority seating.

After the race, head back to the Red Barn Park and you’ll find burritos, Cascade Lakes Brewing beer, AVID hard cider, water, and chocolate milk! Wash your beverage down with a Wy’east Wonder pint glass, which will be awarded to all participants. There will also be raffle prizes, so manke sure you check the raffle prize board before you leave.
