Haulin’ Aspen is an annual trail run now in its 20th year that takes place in the hills just west of Bend, with three choices of race distance: marathon, half marathon, or half-as (6.5 miles). This promises to be a challenging but beautiful route, starting and finishing at Wanoga Sno-Park at an elevation of 5500 feet and meandering through Deschutes National Forest along the way.

This year’s race will be Saturday, August 10th. The marathon will begin at 7:00AM, followed by the half marathon at 8:00AM, and finally the “half-as” at 8:30AM. The course cut-off time is 1:00 PM for all events, so (by my estimate) walkers should be able to finish at least the half marathon.

Registration costs $75 for the half as, $90 for the half marathon, and $105 for the marathon. There is a race shirt available for purchase, but it is not included in the registration fee.
One of the Run Oregon bloggers (not me) has ran this race and noted that it’s “fun, but very hilly and dusty.” Maybe it’s time for you to check it out for yourself.
