Brooks were the shoes that I wore when I first started running. I (being a super smart runner) went to a local independent running to get their knowledgeable guidance on what was right for me. They had me do a gait analysis and try out a few different kinds on the sidewalks outside. Brooks was the winner that day and remains my go-to shoe for general use.

The new Ghost 16 from Brooks maintains most of the same qualities from prior versions. The main difference I noticed was that despite the website indicating “more cushioning,” it felt like a firmer base when I was wandering my neighborhood. The back of the shoe also felt more structured; I joked with a friend that my shoes came with shields to protect me while I ran away.
My pair are White/Grey/Estate Blue, which makes them great for coving potential dirt from the streets while still having enough color to bring some life to the outfit. Plus it’s pretty cool to have something labeled “Nitrogen injected” supporting a 3-mile morning run. Next up: turbo jets!
While I wait on the turbo boost, Brooks is consistently creating quality shoes while considering their environmental impact. Ghost 16 includes 67.3% recycles materials in the upper portion and includes 4.3 plastic bottles in the makeup that would have otherwise gone into a landfill. These shoes are made for the road with a 12mm midsole drop and weight of just 8.5 oz (241.0 grams).
So far the average rating on the Brooks website is 4 stars, so clearly a shoe worth checking out for your next road run or walk.
