There are so many great trail running locations in Oregon. My guess is many of us may have never heard of Post Canyon and the race sharing its name that takes runners through the hills above Hood River.
The Post Canyon Half (no longer a 50k this year, despite the website name) starts and finishes at the Post Canyon-Binns Hill Staging Area and will feature technical trail running on Hood River County forestry land.

Though there will be aid stations on the courses, all racers are required to carry at least a 24oz or more (via water bottle or hydration pack), as the course is completely cupless. The trails you will dance upon, meander in and out of diverse and amazing terrain.
The trails are located on county forestry land, called Post Canyon, and you will endure truly amazing dipping and dancing up and down hills of small to large stature – totaling about 2300 feet of gain.

As the race is early (7am), you may want to consider camping or staying at any number of great places in Hood River. The Kingsley Reservoir camping area has been renovated and recently reopened. The total number of registrants are generally pretty low (there are currently 56 registered), so there should be a lot of distance to lose yourself in the quiet beauty of the area.
