Piping Hot: Checking out the Allbirds Canvas Pipers

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: we must take care of our feet, whether we’re running or not. We have fantastic running shoe options that keep our feet and legs moving comfortably and easily.

However, most of us can’t wear running shoes in every setting unless we have a really cool job. It would be a shame for your feet to be uncomfortable when wearing work or casual shoes. That’s exactly where the Allbirds Canvas Pipers fit into the mix.

Most of us are probably quite familiar with Allbirds. They are a sustainability-focused footwear company offering a variety of shoes, including a relatively recent venture into the running sphere over the last 3 to 4 years.
Even their running shoes maintain a lifestyle look, and we have found that each release provides a better option than the last. However, as lifestyle shoes are the core of their work, it’s no surprise that they can create a comfortable and functional non-running casual option.
Looks:

The Canvas Pipers come in a variety of colors, all relatively simple and straightforward. Our standard gray option looks great paired with shorts and works well as a casual professional pair.

Construction:

As the name suggests, the Canvas Pipers are constructed from a canvas material. The midsole features much of the same technology as their running shoes, which is a good thing. And, obviously staying true to Allbirds model, they are rooted in sustainability with the sugarcane midsole, 100% recycled canvas upper, and corn-based insole.

Fit:

I have worn this style of shoe before and found that my feet couldn’t keep up with it. My arches would end up hurting, and my forefoot felt like it was bearing the brunt of the pressure.

These, however, feel different. Honestly, they are the first pair of this style that I have been able to wear with any significant frequency. That’s definitely a testament to their design and construction. I actually find myself wanting to put them on because of not just their casual looks, but also the fit and feel.

Conclusion:

Please do not try to run in these shoes, but instead grab a pair for 90 bucks and use it to keep your feet happy during those times you are not putting in the miles!
